MBACC Updates on COVID-19

As the coronavirus, COVID-19, continues to impact the United States, I felt it important to share an update on this situation as it relates to the Grand Strand. Currently, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Grand Strand area. Even so, now is the time for your business to plan and prepare as this remains an evolving situation. 

The chamber’s priority is the health and safety of our residents and visitors. We are working closely with the U.S. Travel Association, Discover South Carolina, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and local officials to gather and share the latest developments regarding the coronavirus and its impact on the Grand Strand.

Here are some of the specific actions we’re taking to assist you:

• Created MyrtleBeachAreaChamber.com/coronavirus as a central resource for you to easily access current information regarding COVID-19. This information is also available at MyrtleBeachAreaCVB.com.
• Updated VisitMyrtleBeach.com to include healthy travel information.
• Initiated a business impact survey to gauge the impact our investors are seeing due to COVID-19. This survey will remain accessible through the duration of this situation so you can tell us what impacts you’re seeing in real time. Any identifying information you provide in the survey will be kept confidential. You can access that survey here.
• Developed a flyer you can use in your business to encourage your employees and visitors to practice good health hygiene. Members of the chamber’s team will be distributing copies of these flyers locally in the coming days, but you can also download a copy here.
• Coming soon - a Business Impact Planning Forum to address your questions about best practices with HR concerns, refund policies, and cleaning and sanitation. Look for more details about this seminar soon.
