Reduce Cigarette Litter

Cigarette butts are the most commonly littered item in the United States of America according to Keep America Beautiful (KAB). This program of Keep South Carolina Beautiful (KSCB), made possible through partnership with KAB, aims to reduce cigarette litter.

You can request a FREE cigarette receptacle to install at your business. You’ll need to place the bin in an accessible place, regularly empty it and conduct cigarette waste audits (counting cigarette waste, including those on the ground around the receptacle) every three months for one year.

The cigarette butts are recycled for free by TerraCycle and are turned into compost and plastic products like benches, pallets and ash trays.
